Many actors take their jobs very seriously and that’s why they are the best. However, even dogs can become great actors.

Have you ever seen “I Am Legend” starring Will Smith? If you have seen it, you know that it’s a great movie. But if you haven’t seen it yet, I recommend it because one of Smith’s co-stars is a German shepherd named Abbey. She plays a dog named Sam in the movie and belongs to Smith’s character, Dr. Robert Neville. The movie has a developing plot and Abbey helps drive it home.

Recently, it was the 10th anniversary of the movie, so Abbey’s owner Steve Berens announced that her 13th birthday was around the corner. Even though she is older now, she’s still the best friend that anyone can hope for. Abbey’s performance in the movie was so excellent, it even earned her honors from critics and fans.

Her performance is so good and the interaction between her and Smith is what drives most of the action in the movie. Their teamwork is really enjoyable to watch.

When Abbey retired from acting, she has really shown her age, according to Berens, her owner, and trainer. However, she’s still doing great. Although she can hardly hear anything, she still likes to play with balls and bones.

The German Shepherd was so popular with the cast. Smith really liked Abbey, he wanted to keep her after the movie was done. But, he said no because the dog was a big part of Berens’ family. However, he said that he would have agreed if Smith approached him directly.

Abbey learned how to act in movies really quickly. Although it was stressful at first, she really nailed it. Here is a video of one of the saddest moments in the film. This clip really highlights Abbey’s acting chops.

Happy birthday, Abbey! We wish you all the best
