A woman left a dog at a country trash collection site. Fortunately, the Screven County Sheriff’s Office was able to identify the woman.

According to the sheriff’s office, the incident happened this Sunday, July 5 and it was caught on camera. They shared the video on social media.

The sheriff’s office confirmed that after the dog was abandoned, it has been picked up and taken care of.

Even though dog owners have so many available resources, they still choose to leave their dogs next to the dumpsters, the Screven County’s sheriff confirmed.

According to the Screven County Animal Control, it was obvious that the abandoned dog has been neglected and abused.

Fortunately, the woman in the video has been identified as Symone Roberts. After she was identified, Symone turned herself in at the jail for a felony warrant of animal abuse.

Sheriff Mike Kile said dog owners who no longer want or can take care of their dogs should turn over dogs to animal control or a local rescue instead of abandoning them in the middle of nowhere.

Although Symone had few options available, she decided to dump her dog at a trash site. Nobody knows why she did that. There aren’t any reasons to see an animal suffering just like this dog has suffered.

Symone left the jail on bond. The sheriff believes that many people will want to adopt the dog after it’s medically treated.

Abandoning a dog is never the answer, especially if you plan to dump it on a trash site or in the middle of nowhere. If you want to get rid of your pet, at least contact animal control, a local rescue, or leave it at an animal shelter.
