A dog owner was heartbroken after her greyhound was run over. However, she is thankful to the public for funding the operation of her 5-year-old dog before it died.

The dog named Moose was severely injured and had 5 broken bones in his leg after two different cars hit him right in front of his home in Dudley, England.

The heartbreaking news was a bitter pill to swallow for Lindsay Winters, Moose’s owner. She set up a GoFundMe page in order to raise money for the dog’s operation. Unfortunately, the retired racing dog went into cardiac arrest during surgery and died.

Despite the outcome of the surgery, the 43-year-old is very thankful to the people who donate money to her fundraising campaign. She said that she raised around £1,000 in just one day. Many people who she didn’t even know sent her lovely messages.

Winters said that moose was a very affectionate and handsome dog. The unfortunate incident happened when one of the neighbors came to see Moose on Saturday. The dog got really excited and ran out through the back gate, which wasn’t shut properly.

Then, she heard a loud thud and she went out to check it. She saw that her dog was hit by a car and was spinning around. Sadly, another car hit Moose from the other direction. Then, the dog was lying on the ground and bleeding, but he was still awake.

Moose was rushed to the vets, who said that he immediately needed surgery which cost £4,000. Since the insurance couldn’t cover the surgery, Winters and her partner decided to launch a GoFundMe campaign and raised £1,404.

Sadly, Moose went into cardiac arrest during surgery and died. The fundraising campaign has been shut down.

Winters is also very grateful to her partner who was calm when Moose was hit by the two cars, but also lift the dog out of the road.

Rest in peace, Moose!
