Many times we hear stories of someone being a victim of violence. Usually, those stories become too shocking when it comes to a human.

But did you know that animals experience the same things?

Some time ago, the story that went viral on social media shocked the whole public.

The five-year-old mouth-tied dog has finally been rescued!

In 2015, a civilian found Caitlyn wandering the streets with an electric tape tightly tied to her mouth. The dog’s mouth was so tight that she could neither eat nor drink. The civilian was shocked by the dog’s appearance and immediately took it to the vet.

The injury caused severe nerve damage and required extensive surgery to reconstruct the jaw. Veterinarians suspected that Caitlyn would one day recover completely because her lips were broken and her blackened tongue had to be amputated.

Photographs of then 15-year-old puppy sparked a backlash for justice. People were furious at what had happened to Caitlyn and demanded that the one who harmed her, must be punished.

Prosecutors have filed criminal charges against Caitlyn’s abuser William Leonard Dodson, who claims to have traped the dog’s mouth because she did not stop barking. Dodson pleaded guilty and was sentenced to five years in prison – a maximum sentence in South Carolina for animal cruelty.
In 2017, the judge extended his sentence to 15 years in prison.

The lawyer Ted Corvey who carried out the case for Caitlyn in 2017 decided to adopt her from her longtime family. Despite still dealing with the injuries, she was mentally traumatized and became nervous near the men due to the trauma she suffered from the violent owner.

The fear of Caitlyn slowly disappeared and she is one of the most beloved and adorable dogs I ever met, said Corvey for “Post” and “Courier”.

Caitlin has continued to fight, and she is proof that there is hope for all victims of violence.
