Abandoning a pet is one of the heartless things a pet owner can do. People abandoned their pets for many reasons, such as moving to a new house, lack of finance to take care of the pet, or simply a loss of interest. Whatever the reason is for pet abandonment, there aren’t any justifications for leaving a pet.

Usually, abandonment stories don’t have a happy ending, but fortunately, this story ended well. But the trauma that this dog experienced will haunt her for a lifetime. This story is about a dog named Camilla, whose parents wanted to get rid of her because they were moving into a new home.

Instead of taking the dog with them, they decided to leave her in a back alley in a suburb of Dallas, Texas. It’s obvious that these people did not think much of the poor dog, as they left her without any food or water, just her blue blanket. What’s even more heartbreaking is that they abandoned her on New Years’ Eve.

Instead of celebrating with her family, Camilla found herself in a strange alley, alone, afraid, and confused. She didn’t want to wander around to find a new shelter, she decided to stay on her blanket and wait for her family hoping they will return. The poor dog couldn’t understand why her family decided to leave her.

Unfortunately, her family never came back. Marina Tarashevska, an animal rights activist, saw the dog who was lying on her blanket and shivering in the cold winter temperatures. Marina asked some of the neighbors in the area and found out that Camilla’s owners actually abandoned her.

The animal rights activist wanted to save Camilla, but the poor dog was scared of strangers and didn’t want to leave the spot where her owners left her.

Patti Dawson, executive director of Dallas DogRRR, along with Marina worked really hard to rescue Camilla. Eventually, they were able to catch her and brought her safely into a kennel. Unfortunately, the poor dog was still really terrified of the new situation.

When a vet saw her, he noticed that Camilla had a few injuries on her neck, which may be a result of a fight with another dog. At first, the abandoned dog couldn’t look people in their eyes. After some time, she learned how to trust new people and is in a better place than before.

Camilla is currently in a foster home, waiting for a loving family to adopt her.
