All dogs deserve to be treated with respect, but unfortunately, that isn’t always the case. There are many reasons why dogs are abandoned, but none of them are justified.
The reasons why a dog can be part of a loving family one minute and then dumped the next are countless, but none of them justify abandoning a dog, in my mind.
Take Rocco, the 3-year-old German Shepherd, for instance. He was really scared after being dumped at an animal rescue center in Texas.

The reason for his abandonment is that his owners didn’t like him anymore because they had a baby on the way.
Unfortunately, he was underweight and very scared of adults. The staff at the shelter shared a photo of Rocco on Facebook, hoping that someone would want to adopt him.

They also shared a video of the dog and animal lover Preethi Pillaipakkam decided to help him. She was really surprised that the dog was abandoned because of a new baby. She was also shocked because Rocco was underfed and pointed out that the owners didn’t really care about him.

He weighed around 60 pounds, which is really below the normal weight of 85 to 90 pounds for a dog of his breed and age.
When Pillaipakkam took Rocco home, she noticed that the dog was stressed and very afraid and he even hid beneath the seat in the car.

Although she helped a dog of the same breed to get out of his shell, it took her a longer period of time with Rocco. After a while, the dog realized that he was in a loved and safe environment, he even wandered around the house. Rocco also loves his beds and his new toys!

He became the shadow of his rescues and doesn’t want to leave her side! Thanks to Pillaipakkam, Rocco came out of his shell and gained confidence.
She decided to set up an account for Rocco so people can follow his progress.
