Four dogs in Lanzhou, Central China surrounded their dog friend after a car hit him in the middle of the road. People were stunned by the heartbreaking sight while the dogs were guarding the body of their dead friend and causing a traffic jam.
The dogs didn’t want to let the passing cars injure their friend even more. The leader of the pack snuggled the dog and wanted to revive him.
Unfortunately, the dogs realized that their friend was dead. Even though they knew that the poor dog was no longer with them, they wanted to stay with him for a while and say their last goodbyes.
At first, the dogs weren’t aware that their friend had died, and they were even waiting for him to get up again and start walking, according to an eyewitness.
These dogs were strays and they always hung together and searched for food and shelter. Strays and homeless dogs usually consider the pack as family. Being a part of the pack gives the dogs a better chance to survive on the street.

They spent most of their lives together on the street, so it’s only natural to create special bonds among them. It must have been very painful to see their friend lying dead on the street.
They must have shared more than a few memories together, both happy and sad, as they lived on the streets.
No wonder they grieve when they lose someone from the pack. All animals including dogs have their own way of behaving when they lose a friend.
In some cases when dogs are grieving, they may lose appetite, illness, or even a change in their personalities. They could become aggressive, restless, or dominant.
Just like dogs, ponies also mourn when they lose their friend. Sarah Simmons shared a picture of a pony that was hit by a car on a forest road. In the picture, several ponies are standing around their dead friend on the other side of the road.
Seeing a killed animal in the middle of the road is really heartbreaking for all animal lovers.
