It’s hard to imagine life without them. Unfortunately, a family of firefighters and EMS members based in a San Francisco firehouse were forced to give up their beloved cat.

After the devastating news, the firefighters decided to ask for help on social media. She has her own Instagram account that has more than 45,000 followers. The department asked its followers to sign a petition for her to stay at the station. Edna is a friendly cat and welcomed everyone with a meow and was often found sleeping in the laps of her co-workers. She also provided the needed therapy to the firefighters.

After receiving an anonymous complaint, it was decided that Edna needs to find a new home. The San Francisco Fire Department released a statement in which they said that the workplace is an ambulance deployment facility where employees keep medical supplies, equipment, and pharmaceuticals. According to the investigation, the cat may compromise the sterility of supplies and equipment which is used on patients.
