Former Army staff sergeant was walking his dog in Pasco County, Florida when an alligator appeared and attacked the dog.

Trent Tweddale decided to take his dog Loki on a walk at his Wesley Chapel farm. However, he didn’t expect that an alligator appeared and attack Loki.

The 13-foot alligator jumped out of the swamp, grabbed Loki’s arm, and dragged him into the water. Trent immediately reacted and grabbed the dog by his collar in order to take him out of the water. However, the alligator didn’t want to let go.

So, Trent knew that he didn’t have a choice but fight the alligator so he wouldn’t love his loving pup. The former Army staff sergeant jumped into the water and started punching the alligator in his head until he released Loki.

Trent had several but small injuries from punching the alligator, while Loki didn’t have such luck. The dog was rushed to the vet’s office where he underwent emergency surgery. The bones from one of Loki’s front arms were sticking out.

Fortunately, the vets were able to save and reconstruct his arm with metal plates and screws. They are hoping that Loki will walk normally after he fully recovers.

Trent contacted Florida Fish and Wildlife who helped him set a trap for the alligator on his property. He just wants to prevent this from happening again to him, his dog, or someone else.

We are glad that the dog is okay. We believe that he will fully recover so Trent can take him on walks again. In the meantime, we are also hoping that the alligator will be released or taken to nature conservancy or another animal organization.
