California firefighters received a strange call this week – to save a dog that stuck his head in a wheel.

On Wednesday, the Riverside County Animal Services officials received the call. Later, they found the 3-month-old Australian cattle dog in a perilous situation. The dog had his head stuck in the hole on the wheel that attaches to the hub on a vehicle’s suspension.

David Hough, a Riverside County animal care technician, stated that the whole situation got him worried. However, puppies will be puppies, they are always curious and end up in silly situations.

Animal Services Officer Jose Cisneros and Hough used oil to lubricate the dog’s neck. However, the dog’s neck started swelling. After getting the dog out of the weird situation, they immediately transport her to the Coachella Valley Animal Campus. The puppy was sedated in order to calm it down.

Thanks to the firefighters from Riverside County Fire who also came to help in the rescue. They took turns using a reciprocating saw to cut a piece in the wheel just big enough to safely remove the doggo.

Hough confirmed that the puppy is fine now and doesn’t look fazed at all.

The dog wasn’t a stray dog. She was a playful puppy and got stuck in an unfortunate situation.

When they reunited the curious pup with her family, the rescuers found out that the dog’s name is Lana. However, she also received a funny new nickname: #wheeliepup.

Thanks to the firefighters, this very bad situation has a happy ending. Lana is now back with her family where she can finally rest safely after the tiring ordeal.
