Kittens are one of the cutest animals, even if they are wild! Last month, two ocelot cats at the Audubon Zoo which is located in New Orleans, Louisiana, became parents. They are bringing hope for the endangered species with the birth of their son.

On May 6, 2020, ocelots Milagre and Joaquin brought a male kitten into the world. The Audubon Zoo shared the exciting news this week. The zoo was closed for the public during the pandemic, so the ocelot kitten will be a must-see for visitors who want to take a look at the cute little kitten.

Kylie Linke, a member of the animal care team, confirmed that the mom and the kitten are doing very well. The newborn is gaining weight every week. Although he doesn’t have a name yet, he stole the hearts of the zoo employees!

In a Facebook post, the Audubon Zoo shared the exciting news about the rare, male ocelot kitten. They also noted that ocelots are native to the southwest parts of the USA, Mexico, and Central and South America. Unfortunately, the species was driven to extinction by hunters who want to profit from their fur.

Even though many of us are eager to take a peek, the newborn kitten is not on public view. However, he will be viewable to the public after 8 weeks when he receives all the necessary vaccinations. In the meantime, he will spend the time with his mom Milagre.

Welcome to the world, cute little baby! We hope that you will bring hope and happiness to others, just like you did with the employees at the zoo.
