A picture of two dogs hugging each other before their euthanization took the Internet by storm. Thankfully, two people from Georgia decided to adopt both dogs just a few hours before they were set to be euthanized.

Last year, Angels Among Us Pet Rescue posted a picture of Kala, an 11-month old hound mix, and Keira, a 15-month old boxer mix. After the picture was posted online, many people fell in love with the dogs.

Someone from Etowah Valley Humane Society took the picture from the hugging dogs as an attempt to save them from euthanasia. The pet rescue decided to share the picture and ask for donations so they can save the dogs from euthanasia. The rescue center also needs donations in order to get dogs microchipped and receive proper medical care.

More than 1,000 social media users shared the picture just 2 hours after it was posted. Fortunately, two kind local residents went to the shelter and adopted both dogs.

Although Cris Folchitto fostered the dogs for several months, they recently Kala and Keira bonded together. Thankfully, two best friends and roommates named Pam and Wendy decided to adopt both dogs.

One of the friends, Pam, recently lost her two elderly dogs. However, when she read Kala and Keira’s story in a magazine, she immediately decided to adopt both of them. She is happy that she turned her tears into smiles by adopting the playful dogs.

Wendy said that she is currently working with Pam on a special Facebook Page for Kala and Keira to update their followers and even raise donations to help the pet rescue save other dogs from euthanasia in Georgia.

Kala and Keira’s lives changed a lot in just a few hours. Instead of being euthanized, they ended up in a forever home with new loving owners. This is an example of why adopting is better than buying dogs!
