Sarah and her boyfriend Rory who recently moved in together decided to get a puppy into their new home. After getting a puppy named Evie, the noticed that something was wrong.

The couple leads an active lifestyle and enjoys walking in nature. So, bringing a puppy into their new home was a great idea.

Since Rory had time off work during Christmas, the couple decided to buy a puppy. They wanted to buy a border collie puppy because they are very intuitive and smart.

So, they saw an ad on Pets4Homes and fell in love with a black border collie puppy with white patches. The couple even named it Evie before they met her.

So, Sarah and Rory traveled to Oxford to get Evie. When they arrived at the address, they were surprised to see a small terraced house. However, nobody was inside, so Sarah decided to call Jody, the owner.

Jody arrived together with her partner. They let Sarah and Rory inside who saw Evie playing with her brother. Sarah saw another larger border collie dog in the kitchen and find it very awkward. However, Jody said it was their own dog.

Jody pressured Sarah into buying Evie, saying someone else would have the puppy unless the couple took her immediately.

When Sarah asked about Evie’s mother, Jody showed a picture of her and started talking about puppy food.

Even though the couple didn’t like the situation, they still decided to buy Evie and paid £425 for her via bank transfer.

The puppy fell asleep on Rory’s lap in the car and Sarah was very happy. When they arrived home, Evie was playful, but she became unsettled in the night, which is normal with a new puppy.

The puppy threw up several times, but Jody assured the couple that it’s nothing to worry about. The reason for that was the medicine she gave to Evie to deworm her.

However, the next day the puppy didn’t want to eat and was very lethargic. Sarah and Rory immediately took her to the vet who told them that Evie was very dehydrated, had worms, and parvovirus, which can be very fatal for puppies.

The parvovirus treatment lasts 3 days, so puppies either make a recovery or die. The couple had to spent their Christmas without their new furry companion because they left her at the vet.

Then, Rory decided to call Jody’s partner to tell him what had happened, but he didn’t care. Sarah tried to call Jody, but she didn’t pick up or reply to any texts.

On Boxing Day the couple decided to visit Evie. Unfortunately, the vet told them that she wasn’t doing very well. On the vet’s advice, they decided to put her to sleep.

The couple was devastated and reported the sellers to Pets4Homes, to the RSPCA, to Trading Standards, and the local council. After reporting Jody, they found out she already had a police record for assault.

Hopefully, this will be a lesson for all of us. If you want to buy a puppy, make sure the seller is eligible.
