A dog who is in a wheelchair travels across the country with his dad. Who would ever think that a dog who couldn’t walk would travel across the country?

Meet Mel, the 8-year-old Pit Bull who was adopted by Tom Dilworth. When Tom visited the Yonkers Animal Shelter, he wanted to adopt another dog. However, when he saw Mel, he stopped and the dog placed his head on Tom’s leg.

The dog wasn’t in a wheelchair when he was in the shelter. But, when Tom adopted him he noticed that something was wrong with Mel’s balance. Instead of getting better, the dog was getting worse.

One thing is very clear and obvious – Mel loves his new life!

There are many dogs in shelters across the United States. Being in a shelter doesn’t mean that dogs are broken. All they need is a chance to have a loving family and live a happy life.
